How much do hourly nurse jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 27, 2026, the average hourly pay for hourly nurse in Decatur, AL is $36.20, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $27.74 and $40.58 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

An hourly nurse typically does not earn $10,000 a month without advanced certifications or specialized experience. High-paying healthcare roles such as nurse anesthetists or nurse practitioners can reach that level, but they require advanced degrees and licensure. Most jobs paying $10,000 monthly without a degree are in sales, entrepreneurship, or skilled trades with significant experience or commission-based income.

Can you make $50 an hour as a nurse?

Hourly nurses can earn $50 or more depending on factors such as experience, specialization, location, and shift differentials. Advanced certifications and working in high-demand areas or during overtime can also increase earning potential. Typically, registered nurses in certain regions or roles may reach or exceed this rate.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Hourly Nurse, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Hourly Nurse, you need a solid background in nursing practice, patient care, and often an active RN or LPN/LVN license. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, medical monitoring devices, and basic clinical documentation tools is commonly required. Strong time management, adaptability, and effective communication skills help hourly nurses deliver quality care and integrate smoothly into different healthcare teams or shifts. These abilities are crucial for maintaining patient safety and delivering consistent care in dynamic, often fast-paced environments.

Do nurses get plantar fasciitis?

Nurses, including hourly nurses, are at risk of developing plantar fasciitis due to prolonged standing and walking during shifts. Wearing supportive footwear and taking regular breaks can help reduce the risk of this foot condition. Proper self-care and ergonomic practices are important for maintaining foot health in this profession.

What are some common challenges faced by hourly nurses, and how can these be managed effectively?

Hourly nurses often encounter challenges such as adapting quickly to new healthcare teams, varying patient loads, and maintaining continuity of care across different shifts. To manage these challenges, it's important to communicate clearly with team members during handovers, stay organized with thorough documentation, and remain flexible to accommodate changing patient needs. Building strong relationships with colleagues and proactively seeking feedback can also help hourly nurses integrate smoothly and provide high-quality care.

How to make an extra $2000 a month as a nurse?

Hourly nurses can increase their income by taking on additional shifts, working overtime, or signing up for per diem and agency nursing assignments. Developing specialized skills or certifications, such as in critical care or anesthesia, can also command higher pay rates. Scheduling flexibility and experience can help maximize earning potential to reach an extra $2000 monthly.

What are hourly nurses?

Hourly nurses are registered nurses or licensed practical nurses who are paid based on the number of hours they work, rather than receiving a fixed salary. They often work on a per-diem, part-time, or temporary basis in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or through staffing agencies. Hourly nurses may have flexible schedules and can be hired to fill staffing gaps or cover shifts as needed. This role can offer greater flexibility for nurses who want to choose their working hours or balance other commitments.
