Job description

Network Engineer plays a critical role in supporting DoD contracts and Joint Fires Network (JFN) infrastructure by providing expertise in network architecture and transport engineering. Partnering directly with customers, the engineer plans, designs, implements, and sustains secure communications and transport solutions that enable reliable data exchange across classified facilities and cloud environments. The role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment; monitoring system performance; and applying DoD Information Assurance policies. In addition, the engineer maintains a comprehensive library of engineering tools, produces detailed documentation and tutorials, and consistently applies leading-edge standards and best practices to ensure a robust, compliant, and high-performance networking environment.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Able to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision:
Design and implement communications solutions which can be deployed to field/remote locations to connect secure facilities and support the exchange of required data within a cloud environment and network solutions based on organizational needs and best practices.
Assist in the designing and implementing of approved networking and transport solutions to support long-term Information System (IS) management goals. Installing and configuring network equipment and providing support to systems administrators.
Configure and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points).
Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve complex network issues.
Monitor computer systems and network performance, analyze traffic, and optimize for efficiency and security.
Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and procedural guides.
Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on network planning, projects, and upgrades.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.
Ensure compliance with security standards and organizational policies.
Manage and maintain a library of network engineering tools, that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues both locally and abroad.
Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines.
Maintain current knowledge and implement best practices in networking security to offer the best solutions and protection to information systems.
Produce documentation to support installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and operator usage of systems worked on.
Contribute technical content and tutorials to product documentation
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Possess a deep understanding of:
Five plus (5+) years of experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environment
Five plus (5+) years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures
Maintain, configure, operate and troubleshoot complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment (taclanes, firewalls, routers, switches)
Networking protocols
Network monitoring tools and security implementations
Cloud networking concepts
Security measures and frameworks
Automation tools for network management
Cloud computing platforms, preferred
Work in Agile Management systems (e.g. Jira, Confluence, GitLab)
DoD Information Assurance (IA) policies to be applied to the design and maintenance of communications solutions
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in STEM field Required
IAT Level III Required
OS Certification Required
CompTIA Security+ Required
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Required
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Preferred

U.S. Citizenship is Required
SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and CI Polygraph within last 5yr, or ability to pass CI polygraph within 6mo of hire and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required.
