Job description

Job purpose
Plan and execute lab tests to validate systems and components by using existing test code or by developing new test/experimental methods. Judge test results according to product requirements and deliver decisions to stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure lab tested systems and components meet product specifications.
  • Ensure lab test code accurately represents the customer usage model.
  • Design lab tests and collaborate with development teams to accurately depict the conditions found in real world usage.
  • Design experiments to determine responses to inputs that optimize product performance.
  • Responsible for utilizing existing lab test code or creating new lab test code to meet testing requirements.
  • Responsible for creating test plans that include test schedules, test code, test equipment, measuring devices, data collection plans, and clear operating instructions.
  • Responsible for the setup and execution of a test or experiment and ensure the test plan is strictly followed.
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting any deviations to the approved test plan including changes in the test schedule.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between test lab and the development teams.
  • Ensure adherence to Test Lab safety policies and actively seek additions or improvements. Participate in and contribute to Risk Assessments.
  • Responsible for the test deconstruction process performed by a technician ensuring all testing equipment is safe and ready to use for the next test and all measurement equipment/devices are placed in their designated locations.
  • Create and distribute test report presenting the data collected, decisions, abnormalities in testing, and the reasoning behind the test conclusion.
  • The team member must also be able to work extended and flexible work hours in order to interface with workers on all shifts as well as international business units and must be physically able to travel domestically and internationally (Up to 10% of travel)

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or engineering-related field
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Windows
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems: structures, hydraulics, electronics, power transmission systems, braking systems, diesel and gasoline engines and related systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience working with mixed Japanese and American teams and leadership
  • Experience with environmental testing including cold facility tests, high temp tests, humidity tests, and salt spray tests.
  • Experience with Turf vehicles and their respective markets
  • Experience with powertrain dynamometer testing
  • Experience with stress/fatigue testing
  • Experience with noise and vibration measurement and analysis
  • Experience with off-road gasoline engines and related systems
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and data analysis
  • Knowledge of Japanese language a plus
  • Microsoft Project skills a plus
  • Direct test and evaluation experience

Team member uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; ascend stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. It may be necessary to travel between offices in our facilities and it could be in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions. The team member must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
