POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance & Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-day financial/accounting operations, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective controls. The role supports the organization's strategic objectives by managing financial accounting, insurance accounting processes, statutory reporting, treasury activities, and coordination with auditors, regulators, reinsurers, TPAs, and other parties. The role requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills in both English and Spanish.

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES


The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Manage, along with finance leaders, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, with emphasis on external audit processes.
  • Prepare, along with finance leaders, accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP, or local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, and maintenance of general ledger.
  • Account for premium income, claims expenses, commissions, and reinsurance transactions.
  • Monitor reserves and technical provisions in collaboration with actuarial teams.
  • Reconcile policy administration systems with financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Treasury & Cash Management. Monitor cash flow and liquidity requirements. Coordinate foreign exchange transactions and multi-currency accounting.
  • Oversee premium collections and claims payment processes.
  • Provide management reporting and financial analysis. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Support business growth initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Team Leadership. Supervise accounting staff and finance operations. Develop team capabilities through coaching and training.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Other job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • May perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
  • Minimum +5 years of progressive accounting experience, Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial role. Prior experience reviewing or supervising work of others.
  • Internal controls and audit processes.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Preferred experience: Insurance, health insurance, reinsurance.
