Job description

Who We Are

District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12 from across the District of Columbia. We aim to provide our students with a world-class education that empowers them to follow their passions and change the world. DCI's education centers on an International Baccalaureate curriculum, advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on student agency supported by 1:1 technology.

Position Overview: DCI is hiring a full-time Office Administrator. This position is responsible for providing a first impression of the school to students, families and the community by responding to phone calls and general information requests.

Hourly Range: $22.13 - $27.63 (Starting hourly is determined by education and years of relevant experience)

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English (preferred)
  • Relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift up and carry orders and deliveries short distances;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience in a school environment;
  • Comfortable in a Mac environment;
  • Experience using Google suite;
  • Able to draft and create documents and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in accounts receivables and billing preferred.
  • Available working hours Mondays through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, Fridays: Rotating shifts 8:00AM - 4:30PM or 9:30AM - 6:00PM (hours/dates are subject to change, and with possible occasional additional requirements for parent events and similar needs)

Key Qualities & Skills:

  • Provide a warm environment for visitors entering the building.
  • Answer telephones, and respond to emails.
  • Assist with lunch and meal duties as assigned.
  • Interact with parents and students in a professional and inviting manner.
  • Professional communication with parents, students, and staff in Spanish and English, including written and verbal translation
  • Be proactive about helping the school succeed in daily operations.
  • Assist students and staff as necessary.
  • Report Attendance.
  • Input data.
  • Participate in dismissal procedures at the end of after school activities, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (parent or authorized adult for pickup).
  • Assist with ACE after school duties as assigned.
  • Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students.
  • Commitment to environmentally sustainable business practices.
  • Other duties as assigned
