Job description

Harmon, Inc.

As the Construction Estimator III, you will analyze all project documents to determine and prepare the estimated cost of a project; prepare material quantity takeoffs for the Preconstruction Services Manager to execute a competitive bid and work in a team environment with other estimators to support offices across the U.S and collaborate closely with Preconstruction Services and Project Management teams.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Your top priority is to ensure your project is completed safely, accurately, on time and at (or under) budget.

Conduct estimating on a day-to-day basis

Contribute to project results by executing estimating process with few errors

Participate and drive takeoff efficiency through use of 3D technology

Partner with Preconstruction Services Managers and vendors to create accurate and on time bids

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership: Lead by example and deliver high level results

Problem Solving: Make sound decisions based on information provided

Extreme Ownership: Take full responsibility and accountability for results, own decisions and actions

Discretion: Demonstrate ability to use judgment to drive solutions

Time Management: Effectively manage time and team to meet fast-paced bid schedules

Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, advanced knowledge in reading blueprints and understanding of specification documents, working knowledge of 3D modeling and estimating software such as Bluebeam. Skilled in using scales and scientific calculators, mechanical aptitude for understanding construction methods.

Mathematical Skills: Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations

- Analytical Thinking - Collect all relevant information and data needed to address problems and provide solutions

- Attention to Detail: Monitor and check work or information and organize time and resources efficiently

- Quality Improvement: Demonstrate efficiency and quality in work

- Reliability & Commitment: Consistently meet or exceed deadlines and follow through on commitments

- Communication: Respond appropriately to both written and oral directives

- Initiative: Successfully complete most tasks independently but ask for additional support, as appropriate, when faced with unfamiliar tasks or situations

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2-year degree in Engineering, Technology or similar field required

Minimum of 5 years of related estimating experience required

Construction experience required.Building facade experience preferred.
