Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for professionals experienced in construction permitting, building code compliance, plan review, jurisdictional requirements, zoning workflows, inspection documentation, and structured regulatory review.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on construction permitting review, regulatory compliance assessment, building code interpretation, jurisdiction-specific rule analysis, permit application evaluation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their permitting and code compliance expertise to review construction-related materials, validate regulatory outputs, prepare structured feedback, and support accurate, evidence-based permit review workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Permit Application & Construction Document Review

  • Review construction documents, permit applications, site plans, inspection reports, plan sets, and supporting regulatory materials
  • Evaluate permitting materials against applicable building codes, zoning requirements, jurisdictional rules, and documented review criteria
  • Support structured review of residential, commercial, mixed-use, or specialized construction permitting workflows
  • Identify missing documentation, code issues, jurisdictional inconsistencies, and expected permit review outcomes

Building Code, Zoning & Compliance Validation

  • Review scenarios involving building code interpretation, zoning constraints, inspection requirements, variance requests, and regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate outputs against local, state, and national code requirements, including jurisdiction-specific permitting standards
  • Support structured review of California, Texas, Florida, or similar high-volume permitting jurisdictions
  • Prepare clear written explanations for code and permitting conclusions based on source materials and verifiable criteria

Regulatory Annotation, Quality Review & Feedback

  • Annotate and validate construction-related datasets involving code requirements, permitting steps, inspection items, zoning rules, and compliance elements
  • Review AI-generated permit summaries, compliance recommendations, plan review outputs, and regulatory reasoning
  • Provide structured feedback on accuracy, completeness, usability, and jurisdiction-specific interpretation
  • Contribute to annotation standards, review guidelines, onboarding materials, and quality-control documentation

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Experience in construction permitting, building code review, plan examination, permit expediting, architecture, municipal review, zoning review, inspection coordination, or regulatory compliance
  • Background in one or more areas such as permit application preparation, agency coordination, plan review, building code interpretation, inspection workflows, zoning compliance, variances, or jurisdictional rule analysis
  • Familiarity with permitting processes in California, Texas, Florida, or comparable U.S. jurisdictions
  • Comfort reading and preparing construction and permitting artifacts such as permit applications, site plans, plan sets, inspection reports, code summaries, zoning notes, and compliance documentation
  • Strong analytical thinking and written communication skills
  • Ability to translate permitting and building code workflows into clear, structured task documentation

Educational Background

  • A degree or professional background in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, urban planning, building inspection, code enforcement, public administration, or a related field is helpful
  • Equivalent practical experience in permit expediting, municipal plan review, architecture, construction compliance, inspection coordination, or jurisdictional permitting is also highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a permit expediter, architect, plan examiner, government reviewer, municipal permitting specialist, building inspector, zoning reviewer, or construction compliance professional
  • Familiarity with California, Texas, or Florida permitting workflows, local building departments, zoning review, mixed-use permitting, variances, inspections, or complex plan review scenarios
  • Experience preparing or reviewing construction documents, permit packages, code compliance summaries, inspection reports, site plans, or jurisdictional requirement matrices
  • ICC certification, building inspection credentials, architecture licensure, permitting experience, municipal review background, or code compliance training is helpful
  • Strong attention to detail in regulatory, document-heavy, and jurisdiction-specific construction environments

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply construction permitting and building code expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality permit review, compliance validation, regulatory annotation, and jurisdiction-specific workflow assessment
  • Work on flexible assignments aligned with your permitting, architecture, or municipal review background
  • Use your code and regulatory judgment in a focused, detail-oriented review environment
  • Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation

Contract Details

  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Part-time commitment depending on project availability
  • Competitive rates between $80โ€“$115 per hour depending on expertise
