Job description

We're hiring a hands-on Automotive Accessories Installer to handle service body, flatbed, and truck accessory work. Day-to-day, you'll be mounting and servicing toolboxes, nerf bars, and the full range of truck add-ons that come through our shop. You'll run your own bench with minimal oversight, backed by a shop that's been in business 29 years and a lead manager with close to 40 years in the trade.

Compensation:

$25 - $30 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills
  • Remedy mechanical problems and malfunction codes that are identified in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
  • Work with auto mechanic team members to determine vehicle problems and solutions
  • Inspect, test drive, and perform diagnostic tests to determine vehicle problems, parts needed for repairs, and necessary work
  • Maintain accurate customer records for vehicles’ repairs, parts, maintenance histories, and more
  • Install toolboxes, nerf bars, and other truck accessories

  • Assist in the installation of service bodies and flatbeds on trucks

  • Operate a forklift safely as part of daily work

  • Maintain parts inventory and keep a clean, safe work area

  • Maintain and repair tools and equipment as needed

  • Work efficiently both in a team and independently, without micromanagement

  • Learn additional skills, such as spray bed liner application, over time

  • Be open to working overtime as required


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary
  • Excellent work ethic, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills are desired
  • Required state-issued driver’s license
  • Experience and manual dexterity using hand tools and other equipment is needed
  • Associate’s degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary
  • Strong work ethic, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Valid state-issued driver's license required
  • Hands-on experience and manual dexterity with hand tools and shop equipment
  • Associate's degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus
  • Self-starter who can work independently without supervision
  • Verifiable experience in this type of work is helpful - we will be checking references
  • Welding experience helpful (you do not need to be a licensed welder - welding is a small part of the job). Candidates without welding experience may still be considered at a lower starting rate
  • Forklift certification or experience is a plus. On-site certification is available for the right candidate
  • Team player with a reliable, get-it-done attitude
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to pick up new installation skills

Able to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely and comfortable working on your feet in a shop environment
