Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Gilbert, AZ, USA

Position Overview: We are seeking an energetic senior electrical engineer to join our team. You will be part of the North American electrical engineering department at Silent‑Aire, focusing on leading the electrical system design for data center applications including HVAC systems, modular data centers, and more. Under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for directing technical client conversations, pricing efforts, design development, code reviews, specification compliance, equipment certification, equipment testing, guidance for development of construction documents, and support during manufacturing, commissioning, and warranty. You will stamp engineering designs, supervise and mentor junior designers and engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to review performance components, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implement innovative design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Design: Lead electrical design engineering for custom data center air handling units (AHU), liquid cooling equipment (CDU, pump skids), and modular data centers (MDC). Develop and test AHU, CDU, and MDC products, research innovative solutions, oversee electrical engineering drawings (schematics, wiring diagrams, cable/harness layouts, panel layouts), perform electrical calculations (MCA, MOP, basic circuit loading), and troubleshoot testing/production issues.
  • Project Leadership: Ensure all project deliverables are produced on schedule; inform stakeholders at all stages; communicate design solutions, troubleshooting, and testing outcomes.
  • Standards and Code Compliance: Identify code and standards changes; ensure designs comply with Silent‑Aire standards; apply electrical codes, standards, and industry practices.
  • Documentation: Review and prepare work products (BOM generation and costing, design submittals, reports, drawings, Engineering Change Requests); create and maintain SOPs and VAVE initiatives.
  • Testing and Optimization: Develop test specifications with Quality, Production, and engineering groups; promote continuous improvement; lead product troubleshooting activities.
  • Project Coordination and Collaboration: Participate in VAVE initiatives; support estimating, business development, sales, R&D, production improvements, procurement, marketing, and service; collaborate with cross‑functional teams for cost reduction and performance enhancement.
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering Degree and registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona.
  • Minimum 8years of experience in low/medium voltage electrical design, drafting, and/or manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of NEC/CEC, UL/CSA.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver’s license; occasional travel to production facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+years of detailed design experience and management of modular data center projects.
  • 4+years of power distribution and panel design experience.
  • 4+years of HVAC design experience focused on data center applications.
  • Experience with passive/active harmonic filters and VFDs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electric, Bluebeam Revu, EPLAN, SKM, ETAP, Visual Lighting Software, and PLM software.
  • Previous experience as an electrician or field technician with hands‑on testing and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • 5+years of project management coordination experience.
