Job description

ABM Industries is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA Level II or NICET Equivalent) to join our growing Electrical Power Services team. If you’re looking to take the next step in your career with a NETA-accredited company known for quality, safety, and professional growth, this is your opportunity.

In this role, you’ll work both independently and as part of a crew, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical power systems ranging from low to high voltage. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain leadership experience and mentor junior technicians, all while working on critical power infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel to client sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and start-up power distribution systems
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on switchgear, transformers, relays, breakers, and cables
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to complete complex projects
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Level I trainees and assistants
  • Conduct relay calibration, IR scanning, and power metering
  • Use advanced testing equipment including Megger, Omicron, and Enoserv RTS
  • Interpret test results and assist in preparing comprehensive field reports
  • Complete Job Hazard Analyses and ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Rotate into on-call duty for emergency response and service needs
  • Support the technical sales process with insights from the field

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical testing or related fieldwork
  • Current NETA Level II certification or NICET equivalent
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems and safety procedures
  • Experience with testing equipment and methods for low, medium, and high voltage systems
  • Familiar with NETA ATS/MTS standards and NFPA70E
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for regional and national projects
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field
  • Familiarity with generator controls, protection systems, and relay testing (SEL 700G or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
