Pay Rate: $23.60 per hour

Health & Welfare: $8.00 per hour

Shift Assignments are at the discretion of site management:

  • 2nd shift - base hourly rate plus a 5% shift differential.

About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator operates multiple types of heavy equipment in support of base operations at FASTC. 

  

What You'll Be Doing

  • Efficiently operate heavy equipment such as, but not limited to cranes, clamshells, power shovels, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scrapper attachments. 
  • Operate heavy equipment as required, including but not limited to the following activities in various types of terrain (dirt, snow, etc.):  Excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel, or other materials. 
  • Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans. 
  • Incumbent is to perform equipment checks as required to ensure all equipment is properly maintained, greased, adjusted, and in safe operating condition.  Makes emergency repairs to equipment, and notates any repair or maintenance needed and reports any deficiencies prior to operation.   
  • As part of the snow removal team, incumbent will perform section stand by duties and snow removal operations to include but not limited to snow plowing, snow removal, load liquid deicer tanks to apply deicing chemicals to streets and report usages on both granular and liquid chemicals and work alternate and extended shift schedules during snow events when necessary.  
  • Consistently produces quality products and service.  
  • Completes all training within required timeline.  
  • Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.  
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license to operate a company vehicle. 
  • A valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License class "A" is preferred. 
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start,
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience providing knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties as identified above. 
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.    
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.  
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.   
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.   
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.   
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.   
  • Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's licens

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
US Pay Range
$23.60—$23.60 USD
