Power Hour Coordinator

Unit Job Description

Purpose:ย  ย The purpose of the Power Hour program is to provide comprehensive educational enhancement experiences for Boys & Girls Clubsโ€™ members.ย  This is accomplished through the implementation of a three-tier program that includes homework assistance, informal tutoring, and skills development.ย  The Power Hour Coordinator will provide direct service to individual members and groups of members.ย  In addition, the Coordinator will provide direction and supervision for volunteers working in the Power Hour program.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย This seasonal position is Monday through Friday from 4:00pm-6:00pm and is during the school year only. Pay starts at $15.75 per hour and up based on experience. Must have a Bachelor's Degree or working on one to qualify for this position.

Segments:ย ย ย ย  Program Related โ€“ In order to provide a quality experience for Boys & Girls Clubsโ€™ members, the Power Hour Coordinator is expected to provide a program which includes:

  1. Assist with the recruitment, training and supervision of homework helpers.
  2. Maintain individual records of progress for all participants.
  3. Secure enrichment and resource materials as appropriate.
  4. Oversee recognition for members and homework helpers.
  5. Promote the Power Hour program to members.
  6. Supervise activity area and maintain control and order.
  7. Integrate the use of computers as appropriate to promote Power Hour program.
  8. Record attendance using MyClubHub.
  9. Prepare reports as required on a weekly, monthly and academic yearly basis.
  10. Assure that activities and materials are gender and age appropriate and represent the diverse background of Club members.

Non-Program Related โ€“ In addition to program duties, Power Hour Coordinators are expected to:

  1. Maintain attractive up-to-date bulletin boards.
  2. Maintain equipment and make minor repairs.
  3. At the end of the program, the activity area should be orderly and tidy.
  4. Assist with supervision of hallways and areas adjacent to Power Hour activity.
  5. Provide attractive display of reading materials and encourage reading by members.
