The Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott, located in the Brier Creek/RDU area of Raleigh, is looking to fill a part-time Security position. The person hired for this position will work 9pm-5am; weekday and weekend availability is required.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To ensure the safety of guests and associates and the security of the hotel and property in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a welcoming presence to ensure guests feel safe and well cared for during their stay.
  • Patrol the interior and exterior of the hotel and the property to observe, identify and monitor potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to any security incidents, emergency situations, or alarms, including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats to life and property
  • Respond to guest inquiries and resolves guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Delivers requested service items to guest rooms and manages outside guest deliveries
  • Enforce all hotel policies while remaining calm and respectful towards guests
  • Adhere to all company service and operating standards
  • Protect the hotels assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues
  • File completed reports of all shift activity
  • Occasionally assist in non-security related functions as determined by the Manager on Duty

REQUIREMENTS

  • 21+ years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of following complex instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Previous security work experience is desired, but not required

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work indoors and outdoors. To perform the job successfully, the candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to be able to assist hotel employees and guests. This position often requires long periods of standing and walking as well as frequent reaching and kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting and moving objects 25 lbs or more. The Security Officer must be able to quickly maneuver to any location in the hotel. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
