Job description

Armed Security Officer

Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment through professional armed presence, access control enforcement, visitor verification, badge management, camera monitoring, and countersurveillance operations. This position requires prior law enforcement and/or military experience and the ability to operate in a structured, high-visibility security environment while adhering to all applicable laws, policies, and use-of-force standards.

Starting pay = ~$61,776 per year

2-2-3 Schedule, 12 hours shifts

Primary Responsibilities

Access Control & Visitor Management

  • Control and monitor facility entry and exit points
  • Verify employee, contractor, and visitor credentials and identification
  • Issue, manage and recover visitor badges
  • Enforce access policies and report unauthorized access attempts

Surveillance & Monitoring

  • Monitor fixed and mobile CCTV systems and alarm panels
  • Identify suspicious activity or security anomalies in real time
  • Conduct routine and targeted patrols to ensure facility integrity

Countersurveillance & Threat Detection

  • Observe and detect potential hostile surveillance activities
  • Identify behavioral indicators consistent with pre-incident planning
  • Report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities immediately
  • Coordinate with supervisors and law enforcement as required

Armed Security Operations

  • Carry and employ issued firearm/equipment in compliance with policy and law
  • Maintain professional armed presence in full uniform
  • Adhere to established use-of-force and escalation protocols
  • Respond to emergencies, alarms, and security incidents

Reporting & Professional Conduct

  • Prepare accurate written incident and shift activity reports
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Represent the organization professionally at all times
  • Comply with all company SOPs, client directives, and legal requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Prior law enforcement or military service (honorable discharge if applicable)
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, or tactical medical training
  • Ability to meet armed security licensing and certification requirements
  • Strong observational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under stress
  • Proficiency with access control systems and CCTV monitoring (or ability to learn)
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and situational awareness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous armed private security experience
  • Experience in access control, executive protection, or critical infrastructure security
  • Familiarity with countersurveillance techniques

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
  • Must be able to carry duty equipment, including firearm and body armor
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Licensing & Compliance

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local armed security requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable)
  • Successful completion of background check, drug screening, and firearms qualification
