Description:

Sam Rust Seafood is a processor and distributor of exceptional live, fresh and frozen seafood. We provide the freshest quality seafood to all types of establishments, including white tablecloth restaurants to buffets, supermarket chains, hotels, caterers, and natural food markets. Daily delivery service to the Hampton Roads, Virginia area 6 days a week. Also, deliveries to Richmond, Virginia's Eastern Shore, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Fredericksburg, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina areas via our fleet of refrigerated trucks.


We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Inventory Control Specialist to support inventory accuracy, product quality, food safety, and warehouse operations. This role performs inventory counts and product inspections, monitors quality and food safety controls, supports receiving activities, and researches inventory discrepancies. The Inventory Control Working Lead also provides daily guidance and training to associates, helping ensure inventory procedures, product handling, documentation, and operational processes meet company standards, customer expectations, and HACCP requirements.

This is a Full-Time position with the following hours:

Monday - Friday 7:00 am - Close

Rotating Saturday's 4:00 am - Close

Holidays as needed

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with
  • 1+ year of inventory control experience
  • 1–2 years of perishable inventory experience.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with experience researching and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and able to learn inventory management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand, bend, walk stairs, perform computer/data-entry tasks, and work safely in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F+.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment when certified.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Seafood industry experience.
  • Experience with NGS and S2K inventory systems.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Electric pallet jack certification.
