Overview

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Technical Assistant to support our in-house Audio-Visual team within a hotel and hospitality environment. This is an entry-level, part-time position designed for individuals interested in live events, production, or AV technology who are looking to gain hands-on experience.

The Technical Assistant works under the direction of the LA2 Technicians, Venue Operations Supervisor, and Venue Operations Manager. They provide essential support during event setups, rehearsals, and live productions. This role is an excellent starting point for someone looking to build technical skills and potentially grow into a full-time technician role.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assist with the setup, teardown, and basic operation of audio, lighting, and video equipment

  • Support room resets and event transitions between meetings, conferences, and live events

  • Move, place, and secure equipment such as speakers, lighting fixtures, stands, cables, and cases

  • Run cables neatly and safely, following direction from LA2s and leadership

  • Assist backstage and on show floors during live events as needed

  • Support LA2s in troubleshooting basic AV issues

  • Assist guests and presenters with simple needs such as connecting laptops, advancing slides, or handling adapters (with supervision as needed)

  • Learn how in-house AV systems integrate with portable production equipment

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment storage areas and workspaces

  • Follow safety procedures and best practices at all times

  • Communicate clearly with team members and leadership

  • Be punctual, reliable, and prepared for assigned shifts

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of events and team operations

What You Need for this Position
  • No prior professional AV experience required (training provided)

  • Interest in live events, audio, lighting, or technical production

  • Part-time, event-based scheduling - evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Basic familiarity with computers, cables, and electronic equipment is helpful

  • Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when unsure

  • Comfortable working as part of a team

  • Professional appearance and guest-friendly demeanor

  • Dependable and detail-oriented

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
