Job overview

As part of the Maintenance team, this position performs all necessary repairs and preventive maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer/Engineering Supervisor to maintain a safe, attractive and efficiently operated hotel. The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for performing other duties as assigned.

Your day-to-day

 

  • Perform basic repair and maintenance of facilities, guest rooms and public spaces.
  • Maintain building by performing basic repairs, carpentry, shoveling, clean-up work, snow and ice removal, plumbing, electrical, painting and any other related maintenance activities as needed.
  • Inspect and maintain machinery and equipment for conformance with operations and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work and storage areas.
  • Ensure security of any assigned keys.
  • Assist with Lost Prevention as needed to ensure the safety and security of guests and associates.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints and/ or requests to ensure outstanding guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs on all hotel equipment.
  • Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; complete maintenance requests forms and record logs.
  • Maintain the building's exterior and curb appeal.
  • Assist with setting up, tearing down and cleaning up banquet and meeting rooms as assigned.
  • Respond to all emergency situations and notify the appropriate authorities and managers.
  • Be able to use two-way radios, telephones, general office equipment and various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and hazard-free work environment.
  • Ensure the security of inventory, such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture and televisions.
  • Replenish supplies in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing waste and ensuring that equipment is prepared and operational for the next shift.
  • Make regular rounds of the building to ensure proper operation of equipment, while also looking for any safety and security items and report them immediately.
  • Understand and practice all tasks and procedures in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Assist in any other task or duties as requested by management.
