A Host or Hostess will welcome patrons, seat them at tables or in the lounge, and help to ensure the quality of the facility and service.


The person in this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Key Responsibilities:  

Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns, inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary

Provide guests with menus

Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas

Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs

Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup

Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints

Receive and record patrons' dining reservations using Resy.

Maintain contact with Kitchen staff, management, Serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' concerns are addressed

Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features

Direct patrons to waiting areas such as lounges

Operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages (if applicable)

Prepare cash receipts after establishments close

Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service

Help hire and train other Hosts and Hostesses

Assist in planning functions or other special events and services

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed.  Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred

Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System)
