Job description

The Inn at Stonecliffe is seeking a hands on, dependable Culinary Team Membersto support our culinary team at one of Mackinac Island's most distinctive resort properties. This position offers a $500 sign on bonus after 60-days of employment and a $1,250 End of Season Bonus for associates who are employed through the end of our 2026 season!

The Inn at Stonecliffe offers a guest experience rooted in historic charm, natural beauty, thoughtful service, and elevated hospitality. Located on a beautiful estate overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, the property features renovated guest rooms, cottages, dining outlets, event spaces, outdoor gathering areas, and scenic grounds that create a memorable sense of place.

As part of the Schulte Hospitality Group (SHG) portfolio, The Inn at Stonecliffe is supported by a larger hospitality organization while maintaining the individuality, character, and service culture of an independent resort. The Culinary Associate helps support the daily operation of the kitchen by assisting with basic preparation, organization, receiving, storage, sanitation, and general kitchen support. This role works closely with cooks, stewards, and culinary leadership to help ensure the kitchen is clean, stocked, organized, and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation such as washing produce, portioning ingredients, labeling items, gathering product, and setting up prep areas
  • Keep prep areas, storage spaces, coolers, and work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked
  • Receive, rotate, label, and store food and supply deliveries
  • Support the culinary team by gathering ingredients, organizing mise en place, and restocking items during service
  • Assist with dish, trash, recycling, and general sanitation needs as assigned
  • Transport food, supplies, and equipment between kitchen, storage, and service areas
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards at all times
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional back of house environment
  • Communicate product needs, storage issues, or cleanliness concerns to culinary leadership
  • Complete other culinary support tasks as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • Prior kitchen, food service, stewarding, or hospitality experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to assist wherever needed
  • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
  • Attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety
  • Dependable attendance and positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items as needed in a kitchen environment
  • Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Work Environment

This position works primarily in kitchen, storage, dish, and back of house areas. The role requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and working in a fast paced hospitality environment. The Culinary Associate must be comfortable working around food, kitchen equipment, cleaning products, and changing service needs.
