Overview: Triage Registered Nurse

  • Travel: Expected to travel as needed for coverage needs

Responsibilities:
  • Triage Phone Response: Manages patient health concerns and symptoms via a telephone interaction utilizing physician-approved protocols for the assessment and management of a range of symptoms. These telephone interactions require assessment, patient education and may require crisis intervention. Responds to and prioritizes incoming patient messages and test results. Schedules appointments as needed. May schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance prior-authorization. Responsible for reviewing and authorizing/denying provider ordered prescriptions in accordance with established guidelines. Delivers patient education, according to the individualized needs of the patient and as prescribed by the Provider and/or Group policy. Educates patient and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness. Responds to patient questions and appropriately provides reassurance while responding to patient concerns. The RN can assess the patient's medical condition and provide medical advice using Duly Health and Care protocols, Provider directive or an approved Nursing Triage Manual.
  • Patient Documentation: Maintains accurate and detailed patient records and pertinent information; posts tests and documents patient education provided. Enters all pertinent communications with the patient into the Medical Record.
  • Clinical Resource for Staff: Performs and delegates a variety of tasks to facilitate patient care. Aware of coding and reimbursement issues. Available to other office clinical and non-clinical staff to answer questions and provide assistance as appropriate. Assists in orienting and training new staff. Seeks opportunities to improve or enhance nursing and leadership skills.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying service excellence, care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a member of a health care team, functions in the role of patient advocate by being in the position of initial contact for patient-related issues. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Current RN licensure in nursing.
  • Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting but may consider new grad under specific circumstances.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $27.00-38.90 with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
