Job description


Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinatetotal patient care and education for an assigned numberofpatients. At all times, patient assignments will be determined by adjustment ofpatient census and current staffing levels for the overall patientcare units. Assignments to other patient care units are establishedby census and staff levels which is reviewed on avshift-to-shift basis. As determined by the Nurse Manager,die nurse will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and will rotate between day and night shift accordingto the needs ofthe unit and staff. The nurse is expected to function withjn the scope ofapprovedpolicies, procedures, and regulations forme-department and organization. Will be responsibleto assist with orientation, preceptorship,and managementof personnel assigned to unit. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, nondefensivemanner with peers, physicians, administration,patients,and visitors. Will be responsibleto documenttotal care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry ofpatient data, orders, and charges into computer system. The successful candidate will have to pass a pharmacology test for thisposition. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegonableand will be the responsibilityofthe employee to arrangeand attend sessions. The RN will also work under the general supervision ofdie Ambulance Dept Head, using the Pre-Hospital and ACLS Process.
