Job description

Job Title: Medical Lab Technician IIJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Lab Technician II to join our team. You will be responsible for performing routine and complex technical procedures, ensuring the quality of patient care through accurate and timely test results. You will work within a hospital lab environment, contributing to high standards of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent meeting local regulatory CLIA requirements.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Proficient with computers and familiar with laboratory information systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • State Medical Technician license may be required.
  • ASCP or AMT certification may be preferred or required.

  • Experience with Epic Beaker Systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
Work Environment

The position operates within a hospital lab environment, primarily during the 1st shift from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The role requires flexibility to cover holidays and rotating Saturdays, every 3rd weekend. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required to maintain a safe work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.15/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
