Dominion Hospital, the only freestanding mental health facility in Northern VA, is seeking an experienced Clinical Registered Dietitian to support our nutrition care services for our patients. The Clinical Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nutrition care services to support the health, recovery, and well-being of patients. The Clinical Registered Dietitian supports the clinical care team by providing evidence=based medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessments, individualized care planning, and patient education. The Clinical Registered Dietitian plays an important role in improving patients outcomes, promoting nutritional wellness, ensuring compliance with professional standards, and supporting the organization's commitment to high-quality healthcare services.

What You'll Do

• Performs timely nutrition screenings, assessments, and nutrition-focused physical exams in accordance with established

• policies and professional standards.

• Identifies patients at nutritional risk and evaluates age-specific, developmental, and disease-specific nutritional needs.

• Evaluate age specific, developmental and disease specific nutritional needs of patients

• Develops, implements, and monitors individualized nutrition care plans to support optimal patient outcomes.

• Provides medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers.

• Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.

• Evaluates the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and adjusts care plans based on patient progress and clinical

• needs.

• Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits.

• Adheres to evidence-based nutrition care guidelines, departmental protocols, and professional standards, including the

• Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Code of Ethics.

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, patient-centered care and serves as a nutrition

• resource for staff, patients, and the community.

• Mentors dietetic interns and new employees by providing guidance, education, and support to promote professional

• development and clinical competency.

• Promotes a positive patient experience through effective communication, exceptional customer service, and timely

• service recovery when needed.

• Maintains professional competency through ongoing education, training, and participation in quality improvement

• initiatives.

• Serve as a clinical resource for reliable nutrition information to all interdisciplinary team members, interns, and the

• community.

• Utilizes departmental resources responsibly and supports efficient operations through fiscally responsible practices.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent required.

Certification: Completion of ASCEND-accredited supervised practice program.

License: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetics. Licensed within 3 months of employment by the State Department of Licensing and Regulation or as required by state.
