Alaska Airlines

Guided by our purpose, core values, and leadership principles, we are creating an airline people love. Our corporate teams set the strategies and operational plans to ensure the success of our company. Whether we use our expertise in accounting, human resources, finance, planning, legal, marketing, or any of our operational divisions, our shared passion for travel and our guests is what motivates us to achieve excellence each day. If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you.

The International Commercial Performance Director is the subject matter expert and thought leader for the overall commercial performance of the international long-haul business at Alaska Air Group (AAG). Working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed environment, this individual contributor exercises considerable latitude and autonomy to deliver commercial outcomes. Reporting to the Managing Director, Partnerships & International, this position partners closely with Revenue Management, Network Planning, Sales, Marketing, Alliances, Cargo, Distribution, and other teams to drive sustained revenue, margin, and network value creation across a 12-18 month horizon for international markets.

  • Own the commercial performance narrative for an assigned portfolio of international long-haul markets, delivering executive-level revenue reviews and IPL revenue narratives that clearly articulate enterprise-impacting performance drivers, what's driving results and where strategic intervention is needed.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of RASM, yield, cabin mix, flow trends, and point-of-sale mix across the portfolio; synthesize highly complex data into advanced insights and translate them into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Lead forward-looking, multi-variable revenue and route performance analysis, identifying risks and opportunities across a 12-18 month horizon and partnering with RM and Network Planning to course-correct.
  • Evaluate pricing and distribution effectiveness across direct and indirect channels, providing expert-level guidance and strategic input and feedback to ensure Alaska and Hawaiian are competitively positioned maximizing share across global markets.
  • Define and drive premium cabin revenue strategy including paid load factor optimization, upgrade economics, and award mix management, delivering measurable financial outcomes across the international portfolio.
  • Identify and pursue connectivity optimization and beyond-market revenue opportunities to maximize the value of Alaska and Hawaiian’s international network and drive long-term revenue and margin expansion.
  • Serve as the recognized subject matter expert and market champion for assigned international markets — the go-to advisor and trusted partner for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop models, analyses, and business intelligence tools that drive decision-making and reporting across the division.
  • Partner and collaborate with Sales, Revenue Management, Marketing, Alliances, Cargo, Distribution and other key stakeholder groups; lead cross-functional alignment, establish formal performance cadences as needed, and influence outcomes at all levels of the organization.
  • Represent Alaska and Hawaiian as a commercial thought leader in external industry forums and partner engagements; influence broader industry perspectives on international performance, pricing, and network strategy while bringing competitive insights back to inform enterprise decision-making.

Required

  • 10 years of experience in revenue management, network planning, commercial strategy, business strategy, management consulting, or related area.
  • Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and executive-level recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and drive cross-functional outcomes in a matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to think strategically and "outside the box".
  • Able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time to global destinations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Airline industry and/or international experience.
  • Experience with airline revenue management, pricing, or distribution systems.

  • Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance.
