Who will you be working with?
You will work closely with Wabtec's Product Engineering teams across multiple global sites, including specialists in brakes, safety systems, controls, RAMS, FEA, and validation. You will partner cross-functionally with Project Managers, engineering leaders, and global teams based in Europe and India, while serving as the primary technical interface with customers.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Transit Engineering organization, you will serve as the Project Responsible Engineer, acting as the key technical liaison between the customer and Wabtec. You will coordinate engineering activities across multiple product lines, ensuring that all technical requirements are clearly defined, executed, and validated throughout the project lifecycle. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality, compliant brake and safety systems by driving alignment across teams, managing requirements, and ensuring successful verification, validation, and homologation. You will also support project execution by identifying and mitigating risks while maintaining a strong customer focus.
What do we want to know about you?
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in engineering project management or similar roles
  • Strong understanding of engineering development processes, including requirements management and V-cycle validation
  • Experience working in customer-facing roles with strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools
  • Experience with requirements traceability tools (e.g., Polarion)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and PLM systems such as Teamcenter is preferred
  • Ability to work in a global environment with cross-functional teams across regions
  • Self-driven with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of brake systems and control electronics
  • Experience supporting safety-critical systems and compliance processes
  • Prior experience in rail or transportation industries

What will your typical day look like?
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for customers, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution
  • Coordinate engineering activities across product teams to ensure project alignment and execution
  • Manage and maintain system and subsystem requirements, ensuring proper flow-down and traceability
  • Drive technical quality from development through serial production
  • Plan, execute, and document Verification & Validation (V&V) activities
  • Ensure system performance meets customer contracts, Wabtec standards, and safety requirements
  • Lead brake system homologation and ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks while aligning engineering scope with customer expectations
  • Represent engineering within the Project Core Team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Develop and manage the project engineering plan, including integration, validation, and product delivery

This role primarily involves office-based engineering and coordination work, with potential for occasional travel to customer or project sites. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, work on a computer for extended periods, and collaborate across global teams.
