Job description

Position: CDL Class A Truck Driver – Full Time
Department: Homer Tree Service, Inc amp; Homer Industries
Job Summary: The Class A Truck Driver is a highly motivated and experienced driver that is detail oriented, has strong communication skills, and is willing to work as a team. Must have experience with manual transmissions, double axels and longer trailers as well as experience in off-road driving and rough terrains. Our drivers must always drive safely and be professional and courteous when talking with Supervisors, coworkers and customers.
Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Obeys all local, State, Federal and IDOT regulations
  • Inspects truck and equipment before leaving and after arriving at locations
  • Safely transport equipment to customer locations in a timely, safe and courteous manner
  • Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections
  • Follow all Homer Tree Service Procedures and Safety Standards
  • Adhere to all safety requirements particular to the equipment, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Maintain a clean truck, equipment or machinery
  • Assist in loading and unloading of materials
  • Transport materials from place of origin to assigned destination
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective Communication with supervisors and coworkers
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Crew Leader
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid Illinois Class-A CDL with air brake endorsement.
  • Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience as a CDL driver
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Clean background check and drug test
  • Experience with manual transmissions, double axles and longer trailers
  • Experience in off-road driving amp; rough terrains
  • OSHA familiarity/training
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Diligent attention to detail and safety
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer orientation
Benefits:
  • Starting pay is $24-$28/hr
  • Pay is determined by experience, skill, education, and other factors
