The Role

As a Coding Quality Specialist 2, you will partner closely with physicians, clinical staff, and revenue cycle teams to ensure coding accuracy, documentation integrity, and regulatory compliance within outpatient OB/GYN and Primary Care practices. This position is ideal for a coder who enjoys analytical work, continuous learning, and serving as a resource for coding best practices.

In an average day, you will:

• Review and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and related codes for professional billing services.

• Analyze clinical documentation to ensure coding reflects the services provided and supports appropriate reimbursement.

• Identify documentation gaps and recognize when provider clarification or queries are necessary.

• Apply coding modifiers, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and payer-specific requirements appropriately.

• Monitor coding quality, compliance standards, and evolving regulatory guidelines.

• Collaborate with providers and operational partners to support documentation improvement initiatives.

• Utilize electronic health record systems, including EPIC, to conduct coding reviews and workflow management.

• Investigate coding trends, discrepancies, and complex cases requiring advanced problem-solving skills.

• Serve as a knowledgeable resource on coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy, and best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 2+ years of relevant coding experience

Licensure: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
