A home based video editor is a professional who edits and assembles video footage, sound, and graphics from a remote or home office. They use specialized software to cut, enhance, and organize video content for various purposes such as films, online content, advertisements, or social media. Home based video editors typically collaborate with clients or creative teams virtually, delivering high-quality edited videos while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Home Based Video Editor, and why are they important?

To excel as a Home Based Video Editor, you need a solid understanding of video editing principles, storytelling, and experience with editing software, often supported by a portfolio of completed projects. Mastery of tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, along with familiarity with file formats and cloud storage systems, is typically required. You may be an independent contractor and use your own editing equipment, or you may work for a production company that provides you with equipment. In this remote position, your primary responsibilities are to transform raw footage into a clean, finished video and ensure the final product meets your employer's requirements. You cut footage, manipulate dialogue and sound effects, add graphics and special effects as needed, rearrange scenes, create transitions, and prepare the film for final viewing. You may also provide advice on camera shots and angles to use to make the editing process easier.

How do home-based video editors typically manage communication and collaboration with clients or team members?

Home-based video editors often use cloud-based project management tools and communication platforms, such as Slack, Trello, or Google Drive, to collaborate efficiently with clients and team members. Regular video calls and feedback sessions are common to ensure alignment on project goals and creative direction. Editors may also use file-sharing services to exchange large video files securely. Maintaining clear communication and setting expectations regarding deadlines and revisions are essential for successful remote collaboration in this role.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, multi-talented Digital Video Producer & Sports Content Creator to bridge the gap between high-quality commercial production and authentic social media storytelling. You will be responsible for producing professional-grade video content for our commercial clients while simultaneously spearheading the development of a sports-centered influencer brand across TikTok and Instagram targeting diverse communities in Louisiana. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for Louisiana sports, a sharp eye for cinematic composition, and the charismatic personality necessary to build and maintain a loyal social media following.

Key Responsibilities

Video Production (Client Projects)

  • End-to-End Production: Execute professional video shoots for advertising clients, including setup, lighting, sound, and operation of high-end camera equipment.
  • Creative Execution: Translate client objectives into compelling video narratives for commercial spots, digital campaigns, and social media deliverables.
  • Post-Production: Edit footage using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) to deliver polished, ready-to-publish content that meets brand standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the advertising and editorial teams to ensure seamless integration of video assets into broader marketing campaigns.

On-Camera Talent & Influencer Growth

  • Brand Personality: Serve as the primary on-camera host for client-sponsored content and our proprietary sports-themed channels.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and execute a consistent content calendar for TikTok and Instagram focusing on local sports culture, analysis, and fan engagement.
  • Audience Building: Monitor social media analytics to optimize reach, engagement, and follower growth; interact with the community to foster an authentic brand voice.
  • Trend Adaptation: Stay at the forefront of short-form video trends, platform algorithm changes, and emerging digital storytelling techniques.

Qualifications

  • Portfolio Required: A strong portfolio demonstrating both professional videography/editing capabilities and successful on-camera presence.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of camera operation (DSLR/Mirrorless/Cinema line), lighting techniques, audio recording, and non-linear editing.
  • Social Media Expertise: Demonstrated success in growing a social media following on TikTok and Instagram, with a deep understanding of short-form video metrics.
  • Sports Fluency: An inherent knowledge of Louisiana sports culture (LSU, Saints, and regional prep sports) is highly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to distill complex information into clear, engaging, and high-energy video content.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced media environment where priorities can shift based on news cycles and client needs.

Why Join Us
