Job description

About this Job The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications works as a member of the LSUS Athletics Department managing a wide range of tasks and responsibilities for the athletic department Is responsible for to promote programs, student-athletes, coaches, and events. This position, and serves as the contact for media relations. The role also manages the collection, compilation, and reporting of game statistics, gameday operations and events.

This position also assists in the fundraising efforts of the department to enhance the quality of experience for the student-athletes. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the LSUS Director of Athletics. This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. LSUS values skills, experience and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply - a degree is not required if the candidate possesses applicable years of experience.

Two years experience in a collegiate sports information/design department. Experience in stat keeping, preferably with PrestoSports Stats Experience in graphic design and multiple social media platforms. Available to frequently work an irregular schedule including significant evening, night, and weekend hours.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications: Significant knowledge of video/photo editing software, as well as video streaming, including Photoshop and other Adobe software. Strong professional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable and effective public speaker. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective time management skills. Attention to detail with administrative issues and committed to accuracy with information.

Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism, collegiality, and excellent service. Must be a hard-working, creative, and team-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills. Problem-Solving: Ability to overcome barriers to success. Physical and Environmental Demands Physical Demands Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift and carry 10-25 lbs., occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Standing/Walking: Significant time spent standing or walking during the workday

Pushing/Pulling: Requires exertion of force to move objects within the weight ranges above. Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and reaching. Postural Activities: May involve occasional bending, stooping, crouching, or climbing.

Environmental Demands Work Setting: Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks depending on job requirements. Exposure: Possible exposure to moderate noise levels, temperature variations, and occasional dust or fumes. Job Duties and Other Information Position Duties & Responsibilities: Write press releases and game recaps with high proficiency.

Proficiently uses PrestoSports Stats to stat baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer games. Serve as primary media liaison for LSUS Athletics. Assist and oversee the press box and/or scoring table for athletic contests.

When needed, serve as PA announcer or broadcaster at baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer games. to ensure information on the website including statistics are up to date and accurate. Assist coaches and FAR with nominations of student-athletes for state, regional, and national awards.

Participates in fundraisers and events for the sports programs to expand financial support. Attending, when mandatory, departmental staff meetings and special events of both the Athletic Department and University. Working with the University and local community to help promote and publicize the team and LSUS Athletics.
