Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

 
 

 

REPORTS TO: Principal; Exceptional Children's Services Coordinator/Director

 

JOB OBJECTIVES: (Purpose of the Position)

 

The SLP assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the SLP must work closely with the staff and administration of the school and school district. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

 
  • Plans and implements evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students in Tier 3

  • Attend and participate in Tier 3 MTSS meetings for students in Communication Club

  • Administers formal and informal assessments

  • Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding speech-language services

  • Completes eligibility/evaluation reports for individual students

  • Creates and completes Individualized Education Plans for individual students

  • Collaborates/consults with classroom teachers in the management of speech-language services

  • Provides consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies in order to integrate speech language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment

  • Assures placement of students in the speech-language program and develops and implements speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to established due process procedures

  • Maintains progress monitoring/data collection for individual students

  • Distributes and collects Medicaid Parental Consent forms

  • Maintains Medicaid caseload (update caseload and daily/weekly/monthly billing)

  • Analyzes and summarizes data for individual students for Medicaid billing purposes

  • Maintains a caseload of 29 (minimum) up to 60+ students; may serve multiple schools

  • Create and maintain a schedule and caseload, with up to date information (i.e. student demographics, report dates, service time, etc)

  • Create and maintain due process and compliance logs

  • Participates in West GA RESA SLP Consortias quarterly

  • Attend SLP meetings, as scheduled, at the County level

  • At the school level, the SLP attends and participates in Vertical and Organizational Team Meetings after school

  • At the school level, the SLP attends and participates in Staff/Faculty meetings monthly

  • At the school level, the SLP may be asked to assist in school duties (car rider, lunch duty, etc.)

  • Provides speech/language service to home school/private school students though an Individualized Service Plan (ISP)

 

JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

 
  • Master's Level degree in Speech Language Pathology

  • Valid Georgia Professional Certification in the area of Speech Language Pathology
