Job description

Facility: St. Joseph's Health
Location: Syracuse

Practice Setting: Hospital-Based Pathology Lab
Coverage Need: 3 6 months with extension options
Call: None

Opportunity Overview

St. Joseph s Health in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Board-Certified Anatomic Pathologist to provide short-term locum coverage due to a physician shortage. This is a collegial, hospital-based pathology group with strong onsite support and no call responsibilities.

You ll join a team of:

  • 4 Pathologists

  • 5 Histotechnologists

  • 1 Pathology Assistant

  • 2 Cytotechnologists

Other pathologists will be present during coverage.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • General Anatomic Pathology

  • Surgical Pathology

  • Cytology (GYN cytology included; cytology proficiency exam required)

  • Frozen section analysis

  • Grossing own specimens

  • Cutting frozen sections on cryostat

Annual Volumes:

  • 13,000 surgical specimens

  • 3,000 cytology specimens

Laboratory & Equipment
  • Certifications: CLIA & NYS

  • EMR: EPIC / Beaker

  • ThinPrep Integrated Imager (Hologic)

  • Cryostat: Avantik QS12UV, Avantik QS II

  • Microscopes: Nikon Eclipse E400, Olympus BX41

  • Trauma Level: III

  • Credentialing Timeline: days

Requirements
  • Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology

  • Active New York State License

  • Self-Query NPDB (pulled within the same month as submission)
