Program Coordinator – Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (MII)

Job Location: Work remotely from home but with direct and frequent accessibility to a government facility (e.g., Pentagon, Mark Center), with moderate travel expected. Customers are primarily in Washington, DC.

The Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (MII) program is charged with fostering all steps of manufacturing technology development, starting from laboratory scale prototyping and going through all technology and manufacturing maturation steps required to transition to full production. The MII program is a subset of the Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Program, which is within the Office of Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)). ManTech delivers advanced manufacturing technologies that increase Warfighter advantage. The ManTech Program furthers national security by developing advanced and emerging manufacturing processes and technology, strengthening joint planning and coordination, developing advanced manufacturing for the organic industrial base, fostering outreach and communication with the defense industrial base, and recruiting and training the manufacturing workforce.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The MII Program Coordinator will perform tasks such as the following:

  • Provide program coordination for MII initiatives, encompassing a range of project management activities. Track action plans and milestones, conduct milestone reviews, and monitor tasks allocated to the MII Government and Contractor teams. Assist nine Government Program Managers to effectively oversee their respective Institutes.
  • Assist the client in developing standardized templates for collecting and reporting program information, as well as gather, organize, and analyze pertinent information from the MII Government team.
  • Coordinate and manage the daily execution of the MII program. Collate and maintain all performance metrics and success stories, document challenges and prepare solutions, and assign and complete taskers.
  • Facilitate events such as program reviews, regular weekly Teams meetings, and conferences.
  • Coordinate responses to frequent requests for information from customer leadership and other senior-level stakeholders. Maintain a repository of program information in the designated Sharepoint site. Manage interactions across a complex matrix of stakeholders.
Required Skills / Qualifications

The position requires the following skills and qualifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy or Government Administration; Business or English; a master's degree is a plus.
  • At least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to simultaneously manage a multitude of assignments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to stakeholders.
  • Able to work professionally with multiple and senior levels of government officials, including direct interactions with Senior Executive Staff.
  • Drive team and individual performance from a non-supervisory and customer support role. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, remote environment. Ability to work smoothly with teams including civilian, military, and support contractor personnel from different organizations, in addition to working with industry partner personnel.
  • Strong commitment to client satisfaction. Flexibility to take on other responsibilities as client requirements evolve. Ability to listen to, understand and follow instructions in a fast-paced environment without detailed supervision.
  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows.
  • Have an active security clearance at the Secret level.
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible.
Desired Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate also has the following skills/qualifications.

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in Department of War / Department of Defense industrial base programs.
  • Experience in project management or project coordination in a government research & development or a manufacturing technology development environment.
  • At least five years of experience originating written products, such as guides, reports, studies, briefings, or other analysis, preferably with a national security focus.
  • Strong track record of serving clients (preferably government) and high client satisfaction. Demonstrated professional initiative and insight needed to: anticipate client needs; recognize opportunities and problem areas; recommend and implement action.
