About the Role

As an Intermodal Dispatcher, you will manage and coordinate the logistics of transporting containers across multiple transportation modes. You'll play a key role in ensuring that shipments are delivered on time, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass a background check (due to our FTZ Bonded Warehouse status)

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage the pick-up and delivery of intermodal containers
  • Oversee the flow of containers between truck, rail, and shipping terminals
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for each container
  • Plan and optimize routes for timely and cost-effective transportation
  • Monitor schedules and adjust as needed based on delays, weather, or traffic
  • Serve as the central point of contact for drivers
  • Provide real-time updates to clients and internal teams
  • Resolve issues quickly by coordinating with all relevant parties
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
  • Enforce safety standards to minimize risks during handling and transport
  • Track container locations and communicate delivery estimates
  • Use GPS and dispatch software to monitor shipments in real time
  • Respond to delays or disruptions by adjusting routes or schedules
  • Address logistical challenges such as delays or capacity issues
  • Collaborate with the Transportation Manager to resolve any operational concerns
  • Keep accurate records of all dispatches, movements, and incidents
  • Complete all necessary shipping and customs documents accurately
  • Deliver excellent service by managing inquiries and expectations professionally

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
  • Experience: Minimum two years in logistics, dispatching, or transportation management
  • Strong understanding of intermodal container operations and logistics technologies
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
    • Proficiency with TMS, GPS, and tracking systems
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
