Insurity’s Next Principal Developer

Insurity’s next Principal Developer will play a key role in shaping product and technical direction by contributing to CoI, CoE, and product discussions, and partnering closely with product teams, architects, and product management to turn business requirements into effective solution designs and prototypes. This person will build maintainable, scalable, reusable, and user-friendly software that reduces redundancy and delivers meaningful value to Insurity and its customers. They will also serve as an Application Technology Owner and trusted technical expert for a product, major product component, or strategic technical initiative.

What Our Principal Developer Will Do 

Participate in SDLC estimation and development processes for highly
complex assignments
 
Technology
  • Investigate, assess, and conduct proof of concept of new technologies to determine the best technologies for our cost structure, skill structure, and are the best fit for the company
  • Promote and provide education and support for new technologies across technology stakeholders
 
Architecture
  • Participate in communities of interest / centers of excellence
  • Collaborate on creating and leveraging platform services
  • Ability to act as a design champion of architecture and development roadmap decisions
  • Maintain a technical roadmap in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Align enhancements with design and architecture objectives
  • Identify solutions to take advantage of emerging technologies
  • Design
    • Design solutions minimizing technical debt and supporting:
      • Leftshift operations
      • Leftshift QA
      • Rightshift configuration
      • Ease of maintenance 
    • Review other developers' solutions and mentor them
    • Use applicable design patterns
    • Distill complex problems into a clear set of solutions
    • Understand the role of shared solutions and leverage them to create broad reaching solutions for their products
    • Create design proposals and prototyping support for new problem spaces and first-time development of highly complex solutions or new & emerging technology 
     
    Development
    • Helps to set and keep standards for coding and documentation, including technical documentation for software solutions for targeted audiences, including internal and external customers
    • Responsible for the estimating and planning of initiatives & solutions
    • Acts a design leader of teams developing solutions for problems and enhancements and provides peer-review of designs, code, and artifact delivery
    • Provides in-depth technical troubleshooting and defect investigation & remediation 
     
    DevOps & Cloud
    • Ensures that modern DevOps and Cloud SaaS approaches are leveraged to the fullest possible extent
    • Stays current with technology trends including Cloud Native, CICD, and Quality -first development
    • Continually drives increasing release cadence capability, deep release automation, and SaaS capabilities
     
    Test       
    • Ensures that the technical risks are correctly identified and mitigated during the quality process, by collaborating with the appropriate scrum and release partners
    • Provides leadership and hands-on expertise for the writing of code and unit tests, according to Insurity standards, including automated tests
     
    Documentation
    • Able to comment code
    • Create an impact assessment doc
    Prepare and present a technical solution e.g. with PowerPoint

Along with the benefits listed above, the career level salary range for this role is $105,000 to $167,000. We share a career level salary as a guideline; however, actual salary may vary based on your experience and qualifications. Languages for Québec candidates: The knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec. The English language is required for this position in order to communicate with clients, partners, and colleagues, who are strictly located outside of Québec.
