Job description

Job Title: Infection Control Nurse

Location: New York, NY

Job Type: Full-Time

About Us: Regal Heights is a reputable nursing home committed to providing compassionate and high-quality care to our residents. We prioritize the well-being of our residents and are dedicated to creating a safe and healthy environment. As part of our ongoing commitment to infection prevention and control, we are seeking a qualified Infection Control Nurse to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Infection Control Policies: Create, implement, and evaluate infection control policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  2. Monitoring and Surveillance: Conduct regular surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) within the facility. Monitor infection trends, identify potential outbreaks, and take prompt corrective action.

  3. Education and Training: Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection control practices, hand hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  4. Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and environmental services, to ensure a cohesive approach to infection prevention and control.

  5. Outbreak Response: Actively participate in outbreak investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement control measures to prevent further spread of infections.

  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with infection control regulations and guidelines. Stay updated on current infection control practices and guidelines.

  7. Data Collection and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of infection control data. Prepare and submit reports as required by regulatory agencies.

  8. Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments related to infection control and develop strategies to minimize the risk of infections within the nursing home.

  9. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control. Identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based practices.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the state of New York.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nursing, with a focus on infection control.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to infection control.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
