Position: Harvest Cellar Intern

About Us
Maryhill Winery is located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in Goldendale, WA. We work with over 30 varietals, producing between 200 and 30,000 case lots using fruit sourced throughout Washington and Oregon.
Job Summary
Harvest Cellar Interns are part of the production team and assist with all aspects of wine production and bottling, while adhering to Maryhill Winery policies and standard operating procedures. Ideal candidates will be involved in every stage of production from berry to bottle.
This position is expected to begin August 17th and continue through late November. End dates are flexible based on production needs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Sanitation and cleaning of tanks and equipment
  • Cleaning and ozone treatment of barrels; filling, topping, and racking barrels
  • Transferring and racking tanks
  • Assisting with operation of pumps, crush, and press equipment
  • Developing a working knowledge of cellar chemicals and their appropriate use
  • Performing daily and weekly facility and equipment maintenance
  • Completing tasks as directed by Production Supervisors
  • Assisting on the bottling line
  • Following all safety protocols and procedures
  • Working both indoors and outdoors as needed
  • Supporting occasional lab-related tasks
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by supervisory staff

Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to read and follow work orders
  • Previous harvest experience preferred
  • Forklift experience/certification preferred
  • Experience working with equipment involving conveyors, moving parts, and overhead operations
  • Experience using electrical and power tools
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to hazardous materials
  • Comfortable working in wet environments and confined spaces
  • Willingness to work long hours, including overtime
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, measurements, and weights)
  • Knowledge of the metric system and U.S. equivalents
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and adaptable
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license required

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent repetitive reaching, grasping, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to climb stairs and catwalks
