Job description

Role: Sr Cisco Collaboration Engineer (Administrator CUCM

Duration - 6 to 12 mo.

Location - Remote
Note: Max. 24 hours a week will be worked (3 days a week)

Role Summary:

Senior Cisco Collaboration engineer needed to provide day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and operational support for a healthcare client operating a CUCM cluster with 12,000+ endpoints.

Ideal candidate:

A senior Cisco UC engineer who can stabilize issues quickly, manage complex CUCM operations, and communicate effectively in a mission-critical healthcare environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Administer CUCM, Unity Connection, IM & Presence, CER, Expressway, CUBE/gateways, SIP trunks, and Cisco endpoints.
  • Perform MACD work, endpoint registration support, dial plan/routing updates, phone firmware coordination, and gateway support.
  • Troubleshoot call routing, SIP signaling, voice quality, voicemail, PSTN, E911, analog device, and endpoint issues using RTMT, traces, CDR, and packet/log analysis.
  • Monitor platform health, support patches/maintenance windows, participate in change control, and document operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with network, security, server, telecom, and clinical operations teams to maintain reliable healthcare communications services.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of Cisco Collaboration engineering/administration experience; large-scale healthcare experience preferred.
  • Hands-on support of large CUCM environments
  • Strong knowledge CUCM call routing, dial plans, device pools, regions/locations, media resources, SIP, SCCP, MGCP, H.323, SRST, QoS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, certificates.
  • Experience with CUBE/SIP trunking, Cisco voice gateways, PSTN connectivity, E911 routing, analog devices, paging/fax/ATA, and clinical-adjacent integrations.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, follow healthcare change-management requirements, and support escalation/on-call needs as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cisco CCNP Collaboration, CCIE Collaboration, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Exposure to UCCX, Webex App/Jabber, hybrid calling, or Cisco UC migration projects.
  • ITIL/change-management experience; basic scripting or bulk administration experience using Python, PowerShell, APIs, or BAT tools.
