Job description

Position Summary
A Brief Overview
Title: Sonographer II
Site: Orlando Health Freestanding Emergency Room at Crossroads
Location: 1800 66th St. North St. Petersburg, FL 33710
Shift: Nights
Schedule: Wed-Fri, 1830-0700 (6:30pm-7am)
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
What you will do

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases
  • Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Assists with directing daily workflow.
  • Orients and precepts staff.
  • Participates on committees.
  • Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines Required
  • 1 Year of experience in sonography. Knowledge of routine and complex ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography. Routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department.
  • ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Required and
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate Required and
  • Maintains RDMS physics registry and a minimum of two ARDMS registries pertinent to department Required

Orlando Health Emergency Room at Crossroads is a service of Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. We provide expert emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, close to home for residents and visitors throughout the area. Staffed around the clock by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained clinical teams, the freestanding ER offers comprehensive emergency, laboratory, and radiology services, including CT, X-ray, and ultrasound, within a modern state-of-the-art facility.
Featuring 10 fully equipped treatment rooms and an additional Fast Track area, the ER is designed to deliver efficient, high-quality care for a wide range of medical emergencies. If a patient requires admission or a higher level of care, seamless transfer is available to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, including rapid air transport through Orlando Health's onsite aeromedical resources when clinically appropriate.
As part of Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital and the Orlando Health system of care, Crossroads ER combines the convenience of a community-based emergency department with access to one of the region's leading healthcare networks, including Pinellas County's only state-accredited Level II Adult Trauma Center and nationally recognized emergency care services.
