Location: Sarasota, FL
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Kitchen operates 7 days a week
Available Shifts:

  • 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Position Summary

Ad-Vance Talent Solutions is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Cook for an assisted living community in Sarasota. The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and cleaning up after daily meals and snacks while helping maintain a clean, welcoming, and comfortable dining environment for residents.

This position is about more than preparing meals. The Cook interacts with residents throughout the day and plays an important role in their daily dining experience. The ideal candidate will take pride in preparing quality meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and treating residents with kindness, patience, and respect.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve three meals each day, along with snacks, according to established menus and schedules.
  • Complete food preparation in a timely and organized manner to ensure meals are ready and served as scheduled.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and food preparation surfaces after each meal.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout the shift.
  • Provide friendly, respectful service to residents during meal service.
  • Follow established food safety, sanitation, and food-handling procedures.
  • Properly store food and maintain clean and organized refrigerators, freezers, and food-storage areas.

Dining Room & Cleaning Responsibilities

  • Clean and reset the dining room after each meal.
  • Follow the established mid-shift cleaning schedule each Wednesday, including:
    • Cleaning drawers and the area underneath the serving line.
    • Cleaning freezers and refrigerators on an alternating biweekly schedule.
    • Pulling out and cleaning the catch tray beneath the six-burner stove.
    • Cleaning the stove backsplash.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing the three-compartment sink.
    • Cleaning and maintaining spice shelf trays and replacing trays as scheduled.
    • Cleaning and maintaining dining room and kitchen rugs.

Resident Care & Communication

  • Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional relationship with residents.
  • Be attentive to residents during meal service and throughout the shift.
  • Observe and promptly report any resident issues, concerns, changes, or unusual behaviors to the Kitchen Lead.
  • Communicate effectively with the Kitchen Lead and other team members regarding resident needs, meal service, and kitchen operations.
  • Help create a positive and welcoming dining experience for residents.

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking, food service, or institutional kitchen experience preferred.
  • Assisted living, senior living, healthcare, or other residential dining experience is a plus.
  • Ability to prepare multiple meals and manage several tasks efficiently.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in a kitchen that operates 7 days a week.
  • Availability to work weekends as scheduled.
  • Ability to interact with residents with patience, compassion, and respect.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to recognize and report resident concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine kitchen cleaning and food-preparation duties.
