Fine Cheese, Beer & Wine Associate
Position Overview
McKinnon's Market & Super Butcher Shop is seeking a friendly, dependable Fine Cheese, Beer & Wine Associate to help maintain our specialty cheese and beer and wine departments.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with food, assisting customers, and keeping displays attractive and well stocked. The associate will prepare and package specialty cheeses, maintain the cheese case, stock beer and wine products, and help customers find the right selections.
Previous specialty cheese, beer and wine, grocery, or retail experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
  • Cut, weigh, wrap, price, and label specialty cheeses.
  • Keep the fine cheese case fully stocked, organized, clean, and attractively displayed.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, dates, and proper rotation.
  • Help customers select cheeses based on their tastes, needs, or occasion.
  • Answer customer questions and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
  • Help customers locate beer and wine products.
  • Stock and organize beer and wine deliveries.
  • Build and maintain attractive product displays.
  • Ensure products are properly priced and signed.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, and displays.
  • Follow all food-safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist with inventory and other department duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Friendly, dependable, and customer focused.
  • Interest in learning about specialty cheeses, beer, and wine.
  • Strong attention to detail when weighing, pricing, and labeling products.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Previous grocery, specialty food, cheese, beer and wine, or retail experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must meet all applicable age requirements for handling beer and wine products.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to safely use cheese-cutting, wrapping, weighing, and labeling equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry cases of product weighing up to approximately 40-50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated areas as needed.
