Job description

The Caesar Rodney School District is accepting applications for a 504 Coordinator at Caesar Rodney High School.  Caesar Rodney High School is configured for grade levels 9-12 with approximately 2,300 students.  The school emphasizes the 4As:  Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Atmosphere.  The school is home to award-winning ensembles, sports teams, academic groups, and has strong community support.  

Individuals who are eligible or possess Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification AND a secondary content area OR Secondary School Counselor are encouraged to apply. Candidates must apply online. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the identification, evaluation, and eligibility process for students under Section 504.
  • Develop, review, monitor, and update Section 504 plans.
  • Schedule and facilitate 504 eligibility, review, and reevaluation meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district Section 504 regulations, procedures, and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential 504 documentation, meeting notes, records, and compliance timelines.
  • Provide required notifications and documentation to parents, staff, and meeting participants.
  • Monitor the implementation of 504 accommodations in classroom, testing, and other school settings.
  • Support student access to instruction, programs, activities, and services through appropriate accommodations.
  • Support students in a classroom setting.
  • Track student progress and convene the 504 team when accommodations or supports may need to be reviewed.
  • Serve as the primary contact for parents, teachers, administrators, and staff regarding 504 plans.
  • Clearly communicate student accommodations and implementation expectations to instructional staff.
  • Consult with general education teachers regarding student needs and appropriate accommodations.
  • Collaborate with counselors, administrators, nurses, school psychologists, related service providers, and other staff as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff regarding Section 504 procedures and responsibilities.
  • Complete required school, district, and state documentation and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must meet State of Delaware certification requirements for Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities with a secondary level content area or Secondary School Counselor.
  • Knowledge of Section 504 regulations, eligibility requirements, and accommodations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple compliance timelines.
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience, preferred.
  • Experience developing and managing Section 504 plans, preferred.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and collaborating with students, families, and school-based teams, preferred.
  • Knowledge of accommodations in classroom, testing, extracurricular, and other school settings, preferred.

SALARY:  In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules, based on experience and degree. Benefits package included.

  • All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following:  proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
