What is a hobby?

Hobbies are activities that people engage in during their free time for enjoyment, relaxation, or personal fulfillment. They can range from creative pursuits like painting and writing to physical activities such as gardening or playing sports. Hobbies provide a break from daily routines, help reduce stress, and can even lead to new skills or social connections. Engaging in hobbies is beneficial for mental health and overall well-being. People often choose hobbies based on their interests, talents, and the resources available to them.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hobbyist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a hobbyist, you generally need basic knowledge and enthusiasm for your chosen activity, though formal qualifications are not usually required. Depending on the hobby, you may use specialized tools, equipment, or software, and some hobbies benefit from online tutorials or workshops. Curiosity, patience, and a willingness to learn are important soft skills that help you grow and enjoy the process. These qualities are essential for personal satisfaction, skill improvement, and long-term engagement in any hobby.

How can pursuing a hobby as a side activity enhance my professional skills and career growth?

Engaging in hobbies alongside your primary job can significantly benefit your professional life. Hobbies often help develop transferable skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and time management, which are highly valued in most workplaces. Additionally, participating in group or team-based hobbies can improve your collaboration and networking abilities. Many employers appreciate well-rounded candidates who bring diverse experiences and balanced perspectives to their roles.

Job description

About the Company

Fanatics Collectibles is a new company operating at the intersection of collectibles, culture, and technology. Backed by world-class investors, operators, and sports & entertainment partners, we are building the global leader in next-generation collectibles. As part of the broader Fanatics ecosystem, we leverage a digital sports platform that spans over 900 sports properties and engages more than 81 million fans. Together, we are reimagining every part of the collectibles experience for fans, partners, and creators.

Role Summary

Fanatics Collectibles is seeking an Account Manager - Breaker & Hobby Sales to manage and grow our Breaker and Hobby businesses while delivering an exceptional customer and collector experience. Reporting to the Senior Account Manager of Hobby Sales, this individual will own a portfolio of key accounts, cultivate new business opportunities, and execute strategic sales initiatives that drive long-term growth.
This role sits at the intersection of sales, account management, operations, and strategy. The Account Manager will partner closely with internal stakeholders to optimize product launches, improve fulfillment execution, evaluate account performance, and identify opportunities to expand our Breaker Direct and Hobby Direct businesses.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven, highly organized sales professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for the collectibles industry. Experience selling supply-constrained products, managing retail relationships, and leveraging market insights to drive business decisions is highly valued.

What you will be doing...
  • Building, maintaining, and growing relationships across a portfolio of Breaker and Hobby accounts to drive sales growth, strengthen customer partnerships, and improve overall account performance.
  • Identifying, evaluating, onboarding, and developing new Hobby and Breaker accounts aligned with long-term growth strategy.
  • Leading regular account business reviews using Seller Scorecard metrics and performance data.
  • Partnering with customers to develop strategic sales plans that maximize product placement, distribution, and collector engagement.
  • Supporting the continued expansion of Breaker Direct and Hobby Direct businesses through onboarding, product allocation support, and fulfillment management.
  • Managing ordering systems, release calendars, sell sheets, and account lists to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Collaboration with Product, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Develop expertise across the Fanatics Collectibles product portfolio and monitor industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Analyze sales performance and customer data to develop recommendations that drive growth.
  • Prepare reports, business reviews, and executive presentations.
  • Support broader commercial initiatives and process improvements.
  • Travel regularly to customer locations, trade shows, industry events, and internal meetings.
What you will bring...
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-7+ years of professional experience, including 4-5+ years in account management, sales operations, business development, or related commercial roles.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, sporting goods, collectibles, or adjacent industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of the trading card industry, including Hobby, Breaker, distributor, and direct-to-market sales models, strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in AI tools, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Passion for sports, entertainment, culture, and collectibles is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City.
