JOB SUMMARY:

Provides strategic and operational leadership for the design, delivery, and ongoing support of healthcare data interoperability solutions. Leads a team of integration engineers, HL7/FHIR specialists, and implementation analysts in deploying interface and integration projects that connect clinical, financial, and administrative systems. Partners with clients, internal product teams, and vendors to ensure seamless data exchange, regulatory compliance, and high-quality implementation outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of integration engineers and implementation specialists
  • Define strategic vision for interface/integration services aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and workforce planning Drive continuous improvement using metrics, client feedback, and industry trends

Implementation Delivery

  • Oversee end-to-end HL7/FHIR interface implementations (scoping through post-go-live)
  • Direct complex multi-system integrations: EHR, lab, imaging, pharmacy, RCM, population health
  • Serve as executive sponsor and senior escalation point for critical implementations
  • Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and client milestones

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee interface engine administration (Mirth, Rhapsody, Azure)
  • Champion FHIR API adoption including SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and RESTful patterns
  • Ensure compliance with ONC 21st Century Cures Act, CMS Interoperability Rule, and TEFCA
  • Guide HL7 v2.x/CDA standards, FHIR profiling, data mapping, and interface build quality

Client Engagement & Support

  • Build trusted relationships with C-suite and IT leadership at client organizations
  • Lead team in support of client post go live for updates or issue resolution
  • Support pre-sales technical assessments, RFP responses, and solution demos
  • Ensure SLA compliance, proactive monitoring, and structured incident management

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field
  • 5-8+ years in healthcare IT implementation, interface development, or interoperability
  • 4-5+ years in a people leadership or management role
  • Expert knowledge of HL7 v2.x message types (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM, DFT)
  • Strong FHIR R4/R5 knowledge: resources, profiles, US Core
  • Proficiency with integration engine platforms (Mirth, Rhapsody, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, CDA/C-CDA, and HIPAA requirements

Preferred

  • HL7 FHIR Certified Implementer, CPHIMS/CAHIMS, PMP, or equivalent certification
  • SMART on FHIR application development and OAuth 2.0 experience
  • Cloud HIT platform experience: AWS, Azure
  • DevOps, CI/CD, and interface testing automation experience
  • Prior experience in healthcare provider, payer, or HIT vendor organization
