POSITION SUMMARY:
As a valued member of the County of Bucks Parks and Recreation Department, the Program Assistant for Historic Properties performs a variety of museum duties related to visitor assistance. They will aid in the readying, maintaining and preservation at the historic properties, and assists in the implementation of public programming including visitation, tours, programs, special events and site rentals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as the initial source of information and support to visitors of the properties.
  • Assists the Historic Properties Manager in the implementation of programs, activities, and special events.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for visitors.
  • Conducts engaging tours on and about the historic buildings and grounds.
  • Provides previews to potential site renters.
  • Assists in collection care under supervision.
  • Assists with general administrative and clerical work.
  • Responsible for light housekeeping duties to help maintain the historic buildings (dusting sweeping and vacuuming).
  • Responsible for light grounds work (planting, weeding and hedge trimming) of historic property grounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and conversation skills.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive tours and activities.

  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about American history and lifeways.
  • Requires consistent weekend (Saturday and Sunday) hours and some evenings.
