Hourly Rate: $19.66 Various Shifts: Monday-Friday during the mornings, afternoons and evenings and Saturday mornings Position facilitates water aerobics classes in indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities by planning, leading, and teaching the fitness program to participants in the swimming pool. Incumbent teaches proper mechanics and body positioning, motivates participants to keep the class fun and engaging, and prepares equipment for each class. Duties/Responsibilities Inventories and sets up equipment that will be used for each class, reporting damage or need for additional items

Plans and choreographs fitness segments and routines, preparing music and structuring fitness intervals to ensure a safe workout for participants (warm-up, cardio, cool down, and stretch).Attends training and conducts research for new techniques to improve workouts for participants. Supervises during fitness segments and corrects technique to prevent injury. Maintains enthusiasm and encouragement when communicating with participants

Completes attendance reports and related administrative tasks as needed. KNOWLEDGE OF: Techniques and equipment associated with teaching water fitness for all ages and ability levels. SKILL IN: Choreographing fitness intervals.

Planning and organizing fitness classes for specific ages. Teaching in a variety of styles both visually and verbally. Adapting to the needs of individual students.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience High School diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC). 1 year of experience as a participant or instructor in water exercise classes. Must be at least 18 years of age.

A certification in water fitness training "or" obtain within the first six months of employment. Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record. Valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification "or" obtain within the first six months of employment.

Additional Preferred Skills Available to commit to teaching classes on a permanent basis, at least one class every week. Comfortable teaching from both the side of the pool and in the water. Participated in land-based or water-based fitness classes for at least 1 year.
