Job Purpose:

The High Voltage Electrician/Terminator will be responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining medium/high voltage electric power cables and equipment. They will also have the opportunity to learn electrical testing and high voltage maintenance. 


  • Perform terminations for cabling and repairs on medium/high (5kV and up) voltage electrical distribution systems, including those in collection systems, data centers, and permanent facilities.
  • Perform cable splicing of medium voltage lines.
  • Install additional power feeds to temporary and permanent facilities, and make land connections on transformers, junction boxes, switchgear, switches, etc.
  • Open required high-voltage switches to de-energize lines or equipment to be worked on, test for voltage, and clamp grounding devices to equipment to ensure worker safety.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of transformers, capacitors, insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, circuit breakers, and other accessories used in connection with high-voltage distribution lines.
  • Help locate and identify failed cables to repair.
  • When necessary, work in, near, or on 'hot lines' using appropriate equipment.
  • Perform all work in accordance with OSHA, National, and Site-specific safety practices/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Site Management.

Required:

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.

  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for extended periods of time.
  • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift 70 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • NETA certification is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electrical Technology, or military experience.
  • Certifications from major manufacturers (3M, Richards, Hubbell) for terminations.
  • Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Familiarity with Megger (Insulation tester), Hi-Pot, VLF, Thumper, and TDR for cable testing.
  • Knowledge of testing the following equipment: Transformers, Switchgear, and Circuit Breakers.
