High School History Teacher

Shulamith High School | Long Island, NY

Position Overview
Shulamith High School seeks a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join our exceptional faculty. At SHS, we are proud of a warm, collaborative staff culture where educators are valued, supported, and inspired to grow. The ideal candidate will inspire young women to think critically about the past, make connections to the present, and develop a lifelong appreciation for historical inquiry — all within a community that genuinely loves what it does.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous instruction in high school History courses
  • Develop lesson plans, assessments, and curriculum aligned with New York State learning standards
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages discussion, analytical thinking, and respectful debate
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formal and informal measures and communicate results to students and parents
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and departmental initiatives
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades

Qualifications
