Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center, including a residential camp, serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The Front Desk Staff is primarily responsible for ensuring the satisfaction of all guests and potential guests, both over the phone and in person, while accurately accounting for all income during assigned shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Check guests in and out of accommodations using a computer-based system. 

  • Ensure the satisfaction of all guests and appropriately handle emergencies, problems, and concerns in a calm, professional manner. 

  • Operate essential office equipment, including a computer, adding machine, base radio system, and telephone switchboard. 

  • Accurately account for income during assigned shifts. 

  • Demonstrate outstanding telephone communication and sales skills. 

  • Work effectively in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. 

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. to a height of 36" and stand for an 8-hour shift on hard floors. 

  • Maintain flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including night, weekend, and holiday shifts. 

  • Provide excellent guest service both in person and over the phone. 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required. 

  • Ability to fluently read, write, and speak English. 

  • Previous hotel, front desk, or related field experience preferred. 

  • Clerical experience preferred. 

  • Ability to perform general office cleaning and assist guests with transporting luggage. 

  • Willingness to learn Income Audit and Night Audit responsibilities and perform those shifts as needed. 

  • Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to YMCA values. 

  • All other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   

  • Position functions primarily in an indoor office and lobby environment with regular interaction with guests and staff. 

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). 

  • Must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally. 

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of office materials and guest luggage. 

  • Must be comfortable working with computers and office equipment for prolonged periods. 

  • Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions while assisting guests or performing related duties.
