ABOUT THE ROLE

The Travel Lift Operator is responsible for safely operating crane and lifting equipment to move, strip, yard, and load precast product. This role ensures all lifts are performed accurately and safely through proper rigging, inspection, and equipment handling. The Operator also supports yard efficiency by maintaining equipment readiness and working closely with maintenance and production teams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Operate travel lift and crane equipment safely for product handling and placement
  • Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Identify and report maintenance needs; coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs
  • Execute proper rigging practices and verify load capacities before lifts
  • Assist with stripping, yarding, and loading product in the yard
  • Use hand tools such as grinders, drills, saws, and related equipment as needed
  • Work with gas and acetylene torch equipment when required for tasks
  • Support forklift operations as an authorized or trained operator
  • Follow all safety procedures while working at heights and around heavy equipment

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious equipment operator with experience in crane or heavy lifting operations. They are dependable, detail-oriented, and confident working around large precast materials in a structured yard environment. This individual communicates well, follows procedures precisely, and takes ownership of safe and efficient material handling.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience
  • Previous crane experience or NCCCO certified (Preferred)
  • Strong communication skills for working with crews, supervisors, and maintenance teams
  • Knowledge of operational safety
  • Solid understanding of rigging practices and load safety principles
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
  • Self-motivated with strong focus on safety and task completion

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
