What is a hidden?

Hidden jobs refer to employment opportunities that are not advertised publicly or listed on traditional job boards. These positions are often filled through networking, internal referrals, or direct contact with employers. Many companies prefer to hire through recommendations or promote from within, making these roles less visible to the general public. Job seekers can access hidden jobs by expanding their professional networks, attending industry events, and reaching out to potential employers directly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hidden?

To thrive as a Data Engineer, you need strong programming skills (typically in Python, Java, or Scala), a deep understanding of data modeling, and experience with databases, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with big data tools (like Hadoop, Spark), ETL systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer) is highly valuable. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help data engineers collaborate across teams and address complex data challenges. These skills are crucial for building robust data pipelines and ensuring the availability and quality of data for organizational decision-making.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in hidden roles, and how can candidates best prepare for them?

Professionals in hidden roles often face unique challenges such as ambiguity in job expectations, limited visibility within the organization, and the need to proactively communicate their contributions. To prepare, candidates should focus on developing strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to work independently. Networking within the company and regularly sharing progress with stakeholders can help increase visibility and ensure alignment with team and organizational goals.

Hidden Valley Orchards

Lebanon, OH โ€ข On-site

$16 - $25/hr

Full-time

Job description

Want to work somewhere that feels different from a typical restaurant or kitchen—and earn $16.00–$25.00 per hour?

Hidden Valley Orchards is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking Bakery and Kitchen Associates to join our farm team.

At Hidden Valley, food is a big part of the experience. Guests come to the farm to spend time with family and friends, enjoy the orchard, attend events, and make memories—and our bakery and kitchen help bring that experience to life.

Depending on the day, you might be preparing and baking fresh food, assembling and plating dishes, helping keep the kitchen organized, serving guests during a busy weekend, or supporting one of the many events happening around the farm. This is hands-on work in a unique setting where no two days are quite the same.

We take pride in serving excellent baked goods and a diverse, high-quality menu, and we're looking for people who care about doing things well. You don't need to come from a traditional restaurant background, but you should be ready to work hard, learn quickly, help your teammates, and take pride in creating something guests will remember.

If you enjoy food, like being active, and want to work with a team in a one-of-a-kind farm and orchard setting, we'd love to meet you.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, plating, and serving of food items in accordance with orchard standards.
  • Help Chef prepare meals, donuts, ice cream, and farm-favorite menu.
  • Support kitchen cleanliness and organization by maintaining prep areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ensure food is stored and handled safely, following all health and safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests at service counters or during events.
  • Restock supplies and ingredients as needed throughout the shift.
  • Assist with setup, service, and cleanup for on-site private events or seasonal activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and management to meet service goals.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in food service, kitchen work, or hospitality is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-energy environment.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as required.

Benefits

  • This position offers a starting wage range of $16.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, food safety knowledge, culinary skills, efficiency, and leadership ability.
  • Team members may be eligible for pay increases as they refine technical skills, increase speed and accuracy, maintain high food quality standards, and demonstrate leadership within the kitchen team.
  • Clear pathways exist for growth into leadership roles. Team members who work during our peak season (September 15 – October 31) may also be eligible for performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Fun, supportive work environment on a beautiful farm setting.
